I'm going to put some quotes in Kaitlin's room - around the slope of the ceiling - I need to narrow this list down..any thoughts, favorites? : )

Front doors
Eventually we are going to change our front door and these are the ones I'm mulling over. I want something with a window in it to let light in. Our front entry way has an arch seperating it from the living room and I'd like it to be it's own space, if that makes any sense at all! : )
Here's some beginning options:
Here's some beginning options:
Door 1..only problem is the doorframe would have to be reworked..and the house is brick, so I'm not sure if that's possible, but I love the different shape and the detail
Inside of Door 1
Love all the Light - Door 2
Craftsman houses - true craftsmans with the built-ins and nooks and solidness have always been my absolute favorite..this door is definitely craftsman, but I think would look really cute with our brick 1940's non-craftsman also. : )
Thoughts?

Early Again for Tuesday
I'm going to Atlanta in the morning so here goes...
1. I'm almost finished unpacking the trailer FULL of craft/art supplies that my uncle donated - to me and the Y130. There was so much fun stuff in there - beads for jewelry, wood for painting, paint, paintbrushes, foam stickers in every shape and design imaginable, more paint. There was some not so fun stuff in there that will be going to Goodwill b/c I've learned that everything has someone that loves it or can make it into something lovable, right? I found some great fake flowers for my centerpieces, some wreath ribbon, some art projects for the kids, and some scrap fabric for applique. : )Thank you SO much! The kids (mine and the Y)are going to have so much fun with it all!
2. We are almost done with the Y130 decorating - it's looking pretty grinchy in there. The window is getting rave reviews and I added a few finishing touches today and I think I'm happy with it now. ;-) Corie put the HUGE (think 14') artificial tree up yesterday - Walmart donated their's from the front of the store last year and it looks so cute b/c it's a little taller than the ceilings so it curves at the top - just like a Who-tree! We have another that we are putting up outside. I have a few more small things to paint, but other than that it's looking finished.
3. I'm hitting IKEA with a passion tomm. finally for a couch!!! WOOHOO! I will be so glad to see that paycheck hit our account - all the bills are waiting patiently until tomm to be sent out and ones that can't be electronic are stamped and ready to go. So glad this is OVER!
4. Emma is out of school all week - it was supposed to be Thursday and Friday, but they decided to furlough the teachers this week to save some money and just combine it with the holiday. It's a sad state of affairs when we are furloughing school and you see all this wasteful spending on government buildings (like the new National Guard headquarters in Raleigh for a couple million dollars) or fighting over passing things in Congress. Just do what's right, it's not that hard.
5. Still no luck finding the hit and run guy. Picking up the police report tomm. to send to the insurance company who I'm sure by now is hating us.
6. Christmas shopping is just around the corner and I'm pretty set on all the kids, but everyone else I have no idea about............
7. I have a great idea for Abby and Emma's room - Emma wants a horse/fairy/flower/butterfly room. And since I haven't really ever done a real theme in her room and everyone else's is ALMOST finished...a few details here and there...I've decided to give her that wish. : ) Butterfly mobile copycatted from PBKids, a garden gate instead of a baby gate to block Ab from the stairs, flower lights from Ikea, soft blues and greens, and more. I'm really excited about it and will probably get started in December.
8. I'm getting Kaitlin's bed tomm so except for her desk/sewing area and painting her dresser, her room is done. : ) I've got some minor details - shelves on the walls, etc. - but the big stuff is done.
9. I'm working on the boys toy box tomm also - I'm drawing a little skateboard guy on it to match their extreme sports room. I hope it turns out like I'm thinking....
10. Did I mention I'm going to Atlanta tomm to get a COUCH! : )

The To Do List...
Well, I did get some things done - kitchen cleaned, laundry room cleaned, laundry almost finished, bathroom done. Floors still need to be mopped, girls/boys room could use some cleaning, but let's face it, it's impossible to do while they are here. So Mon-Wed, I will buckle down..after the Y on Monday, Ikea on Tuesday.... : )
But I did get to find lots of inspiration for Christmas decorating next week, and picked up a big ole' barn star on ebay for over my fireplace. I have to hit the local "junk" shop tomm for something I know will look just perfect underneath it for a few dollars. I'm so looking forward to being able to finally decorate!! I've been searching blogs and magazines for some inspiration on throw pillows for my couch and chair, and some to add some "sizzle" to my somewhat plain bedroom. I loved our red quilt when we were in Raleigh and had brown walls and darker accents, but here with the cream walls (that I really like and don't want to paint), and the art that used to hang in our dining room (big flowers in orange, red, yellows), I really want to add some more color to the bed. I'm thinking if I can find an "overquilt" and some throw pillows it will really pull it all together. And I'm debating the red curtains going back up or not....hmm...
Pictures soon....I promise!

Christmas Decorating Ideas...
This front door is similar to what I'm thinking...except the whole two door thing. :) I like the way they have the garland swagged around the doors - simple and elegant.
I have my Willow Tree Nativity that I think would look so pretty in a simple setting like this..and I have flameless candles that would be perfect for this. Have to pick up some more.... : )
Off for more internet scouring...

Today's To Do List
Hoping this will keep me motivated..here goes:
1. Laundry
2. Laundry
3. Laundry
4. Clean kitchen - unload/load dw, clear off counters that seem to be magnets for anything the kids don't want to put away, sweep/mop
5. Clean dining room - sponge off table (getting annoying crumbs out of the cracks), sweep/mop, remove any toy/crap/scrap paper that has been left in the there, dream about the day I get to work on refinishing the cabinet
6. Living room - waiting patiently for tv cabinet and couch. Move boxes of stuff waiting for shelving to another spot so it looks like I did something.
7. Boys room....de-wreck. Put toys away, clean out drawers, change sheets, hang hockey sticks?
8. Master Bedroom - bomb. Seriously, that's the only way to clean it right now. Fold all the laundry stacked in there waiting for me. Change sheets, make bed. Organize stuff on dresser.
9. Girls Room - thorough clean. Put toys away. finish organizing. work on bathroom/kaitlin's room. figure out gate solution for Abby. Change sheets, make beds, etc.
10. Make shopping list for Thanksgiving/week, Christmas list check, coupons tomm. (gotta get back to doing that)
11. Make menu for the week
12. Work on Kaitlin's school work for week
13. Firm up plans for Saturday with babysitter
14. Paint front hall table? Yeah, I know - not happening. : )

Five on Friday
Just for fun -
1. Someone hit us in the parking lot last night...and left. Broke out the back lights, pulled the bumper loose, and dented the rear quarterpanel. But they left paint transfer and rubber from their bumper, so we know it was either a white SUV or truck b/c it was higher than our bumper and you can tell from the transfer where their bumper was. We filed a police report and we are on the hunt. I'm guessing it's someone in that parking lot pretty regularly since it's normally just town people there - either working or dropping their kids off. It's not even the money to fix it - which sucks - it's the fact that they didn't even bother to apologize. At least leave a note saying you are sorry, you know? I know my cars a piece of crap - it's got stickers on the windows, it needs a really, really good detailing, but it doesn't need anymore help falling apart, ok?
2. 4 days until couch day. : ) And I think chair, ottoman, Kaitlin bed, and media shelf, too. Maybe. We'll see.
3. 4 days until bill pay! Woohoo! I have everything scheduled to send and get caught up. I cannot wait.
4. 5 days until the Suggs arrive! Double Woohoo! Owen has told everyone in town that Aiden is coming - I think he's a little excited. Can't say I blame him!
5. Emma and Kaitlin are going to be in the festival and the parade. Emma is dancing to "Run, Run, Rudolph". It is soooo cute! Can't wait to get pics of that! And Kaitlin will be doing a tumbling demonstration. And then both girls and Owen will ride on the Y130 float - and Fred will be driving. Joey, Abby and I will be cheering them on from the sidelines. Go, grinch!
Hugs

Tuesday Ten
1. The Grinch window is done - have to snap some pics. We started working on the inside displays now - we've done three who-houses, the welcome to whoville sign, and sketched out the cave and grinch/sleigh. Tommorow will be finish painting them day and then accessorize - christmas trees, wreaths, etc. Love it! Already thinking of ideas for Valentines Day and next year!
2. I may or may not have fractured my foot tonight. Yes, 33 years old and on crutches for a few days, sucks. Especially when your husband goes out of town and you have 5 kids that know you can't chase them. Sucks. They did x-rays and it's not broken, but they said sometimes a fracture won't show up right away so I have to see if it feels better in a few days and if not, go back for another round of x-rays. Did I mention crutches suck?
3. We got confirmation of payment today - for the 25th. A few more days and I will be able to send out bills. Never thought I would be so excited for that day! And I get my couch! And Ikea is running a special right now - buy the ektorp sofa and get an additional white slipcover FREE!!!! Woohoo! : )
4. One week until Jenny visits for Thanksgiving - can't wait! So many things to fit into such a short time - unless I can convince her to move here and never go home............hmm.....
5. I've made my Christmas lists and planned out what everyone is getting - can't wait to get it all done next week!
6. The car is starting a little better - we found a loose ground that was causing part of the problem, but there is still alot of hesitation. We're going to do some wire testing and then change out the ignition coil packs..there are 3 of them. Hoping that changing one of them will make a little difference since they are $25 each.
7. I can't wait to decorate for Christmas. I have to come up with a decorating plan because all my decorations were perfect for the Raleigh house. I'm thinking wreaths, candle lights, traditional decorations....
8. I'm going to start teaching the art class regularly one day a week at the Y. I think our first project is Who-ornaments for the tree and then we are going to do Who self portraits for our Whoville Art Gallery. : ) (Basically the kids will draw themselves as Who's doing their favorite activity..like Kaitlin cheering, Ricky drawing, etc)
9. We've been doing a ton of yardwork. We have a HUGE pile of leaves and leaf trimming and vine trimmings waiting for the yard waste pick-up on Thursday. I can't wait to add some more plants in the spring and bulbs, etc. We've made a tenative plan of attack once Fred's shoulder/neck is healed.....if I can wait that long.
10. I cannot wait for the first weekend in December! Thursday is the tree lighting, Friday is the Polar Express showing at the Depot for kids 5-12 (come in jammies with sleeping bags and pillows to watch the movie), Saturday is Festival off Main - something like 10,000 people come for crafts, demonstrations, etc. and then Sunday (Owen's birthday)is the parade. He's going to ride with the other kids on the Y float and eat grinch birthday cake. : ) I love being part of a small town..especially at the holidays!

Early 10 on Tuesday
I feel like crap tonight and suspect I'm going to feel worse in the morning, so I'm getting this done early....
1. WE WON! The National Guard admitted there was an "error" made and SFC Lewis was removed from his orders incorrectly. They have reinstated them with an effective date of Oct 1, 2009 until May 31, 2010! This gives him plenty of time to heal and go through the MEB board and retire out! WOOHOO! : ) Such a relief. The Colonel in the J1's office was very helpful and has said that he will make sure the policy is being followed with other Soldiers as well. Thank you for all that were thinking and praying for us - they were surely heard! He will be here at home until he is cleared by the doctor - who is ordering a shoulder MRI since he is still having trouble with his arm - and then will most likely be doing Admin work for a GEORGIA Guard unit!!!
2. Hopefully his paycheck will hit on Thursday and I can pay all the past due bills that have been piling up. The legal department gave us a letter to give to people explaining their error and asking people to waive late fees/etc. I'm hoping that they will listen to it, but if not, I'm just glad to get caught up!
3. I get a couch!!! If his paycheck comes in this week, we are going on Thursday or Friday!! Another WOOHOO!
4. We've started cutting supplies for the mad sewing frenzy that will happen hopefully next week. I'm planning on making crayon rolls, I Spy Bags, Travel Felt Tic Tac Toe, dry erase frames, chalkboard shapes, felt play mats and cloth advent rings. I'll try to attach pictures as I go...
5. We made an offer on a building in Thomson today for lease. We gave them a time of 5pm on Wednesday to let us know...two long days!
6. My throat is killing me! Fred has been hacking all week and Kaitlin too. Well, apparently one of them decided to share the wealth. Yay! At least we have insurance now...I am so thankful for that!
7. I'm meeting Cori tommorrow to get started on Whoville at the Y130! So excited to get back to painting and being crafty! I've really missed the crazy kids that I worked with last time and can't wait to see everyone!
8. Abby will only wear soft soled shoes to walk in. She has a pair we got at Target and today we got her a pair of moccasin like boots, but she's going to be very limited in her style choices soon! She loves her shoes though..she puts them on first thing. Yesterday she was walking around in her diaper, a hat, and her shoes. Nice.
9. Wednesday is Veterans Day - please take a minute to think about all the Soldiers out there that protect our freedom. Everyday someone's father or husband or wife or mother dies doing this job, and it means the world to them when someone tells them that they appreciate it.
10. I got my china cabinet and trunk from the storage unit! I can't wait to refinish it and do the walls in the dining room!
Hugs

Ten on Tuesday Time
1. We are headed to NC tommorrow for a meeting with Col. Brotherton of the Office of the J-1. Should be interesting seeing how he has only been in the position for 30 days. I'm bringing all the policies with me and not much hope that he'll have any clue what they mean....sorta like everyone else in the Guard.
2. Thursday is Fred's follow-up appointment with his Orthopedic Surgeon. If Wednesday doesn't go well, we're going to ask for physical therapy to be prescribed (he could probably use it anyway since stiffness really seems to be a problem) so that he'll have "consistant medical needs" and maybe be admitted to the ADME program. He's having a lot of stiff neck issues in the morning especially and the cold is really irritating it. Hopefully it's part of the healing process but I'm thinking no....
3. I get to pick up my china cabinet and coffee table when we go out of storage. Is it wrong that I'm really excited about having a coffee table but no couch? : )
4. I told Fred that if they put him back on orders, I think it would feel like winning the lottery. Seriously. I'm having a hard time deciding what I would do first. I used to make list of things I'd buy if I won a million dollars...now I'm making a list of those non-essentials that I would buy at the grocery store. Kind of puts things in perspective. : )
5. Christmas is coming up soon - I found a great pattern and I'm making the little ones "card table playhouses". They are SO cool! They fit right over a card table to make a little fort - Joey's getting a camp ground, Owen a fire station and Emma and Abby will share a pink cottage. They will look similar to these: 6. Halloween was a hit with the kids..yes, still no pics!...Abby has definitely honed her walking skills and loves to put them to use for candy.
7. We are starting to put together ideas for Whoville at the Y130 for Christmas. So cool. : ) It's weird how much I've missed being there this week now that the Haunted House is done.
8. I'm really struggling tonight..my mind is filled with Army Regulations and NGB policies..it's going to be a long drive tomm. morning. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.
9. Is it too early to decorate for Christmas? Seriously. I am having a really hard time resisting the urge...some pretty red poinsettas, candles, ribbon and garland...it's not so much Christmas presents as it is the decorations I can't wait for.
10. I'm going to be pretty busy fixing up furniture soon - going to paint the hall table black and rough it up, add a burlap runner to the top for some texture and find a lampshade for the lamp. Then strip and refinish the china cabinet (my $20 yard sale find :)..still trying to decide what color, but I'm leaning towards black on that also. We are eventually going to do a paneling type finish in there about 3/4 of the way up the wall in white with the navy above it and I'm thinking an antique black would look so cool against it. I'll line the back with a coordinating fabric and fix up the ugly doors. Then I have to paint Kaitlin's dresser white and the boys toy box. Whew...should keep me busy for a little bit. : )
Bonus:
11. Fred and I are planning to hit the Endless Yard Sale next year. It is August 5th - starts in Ohio and goes through Alabama. I think we'll pick it up in Tenn. on Thursday and spend Friday and Saturday winding our way to Alabama along the route. You should see some of the deals people get there - can't wait! And maybe I'll see some blogger decorators I read about online....Anyone want to tag along?
Hugs
KT
